Village Bicycle Project was founded in 1999 by David Peckham, a dedicated bicycle activist and former Peace Corps Volunteer. As a successful self-sustaining and capacity building development project, VBP gives people in Ghana and Sierra Leone a crucial tool to improve their lives by offering access to affordable and sustainable transportation. VBP addresses the devastating burden that a lack of transportation has on families in Africa, whose time could be more efficiently spent improving their education, economic stability and health.

Supported by generous financial donors, hundreds of volunteers and bicycle advocacy organizations worldwide, Village Bicycle Project relies on and deeply appreciates the loyalty and hard work of those who donate, collect and ship bicycles.

Village Bicycle Project is proud to employ local bicycle trainers and administrative staff in Ghana and Sierra Leone.
