David Peckham, Founder & Director (DP), Boise and Tunis, Tunisia

Founder and director of VBP since 1999, David Peckham has directed dozens of containers of bikes from rich countries to poor countries. He started bike repair programs in Africa that train people in basic bike repair, while giving students bikes for less than half the regular local price.
David once heard that people who have the ideas that start projects such as VBP rarely, rarely possess the skills to run them.  Seeing this to be true as well for him, pondering his own mortality, and wishing the work might continue in his eventual inevitable absence, several years ago he began hoping for some help with the management and leadership of the project.  He got lucky.

Brittany began work with VBP in 2009 when she went to Sierra Leone to teach school girls how to ride bikes. While teaching classes and learning all she could about the potential of Sierra Leonean bike culture, she met and trained other locals how to do the job, and hundreds of girls have since learned to ride.  Brittany returned to Sierra Leone in 2010 and continues to be an important part of our plan to distribute bikes and promote VBP programs there.
